If you’re a follower of this blog, you may have noticed my very extended absence over the past two months. A large part of this has to do with it being my senior year of high school. With college applications, scholarships and deadlines to spare, the blog had to take the back seat for a while.
I have to admit, though, a large part of my barren blog is due to an insecurity of mine.
I think we all struggle with comparison. It is a fairly natural response to encountering something or someone you deem extraordinary. And in today’s expansive digital space, there is no shortage of access to beautiful people, beautiful places and beautiful things which we can pin against our own lives.
The fact is we all have something unique to offer this world – a skill entirely individual and irreplaceable. I’ve lost sight of my own attributes this year. I began comparing myself to what I saw as bigger bloggers, better students and generally just happier people.
Maybe it’s the idealistic New Year creeping up on me, but I’ve decided this is the time to stop the constant comparisons and find my niche again.

It’s go time.
This year, let’s focus a little more on ourselves. No more idolizing lives on social media. No more rivalry within our friend groups. No more creating a false sense of perfection. The time has come for us to simply be.
Do what you love, wear what you love and most importantly be who you love.
There is no greater resolution than to find peace and happiness within the life you already lead.
Speak Your Mind!
I’d love to read everyone’s thoughts on comparison in the comments below! Or simply just let me know what you would like to see more of on this blog in the coming year.
Wishing you the best as we close out 2016. Much love to you all. xx
