Time seems to fly (and yet move painfully slow) during these summers between school. I’m not saying I’m ready to hit the books again, but I’m not not saying that, either. Of course I hate the stress of it all, but I do miss my routine sometimes. Summer always feels like a daze to me… just a whole bunch of sleepy afternoons and humid evenings blurred into one. I love that “fresh start” we get every fall when school starts up again. It gives us something to dread yet secretly anticipate through the building summer heat. It’s hard to believe I only have a few of those re-starts left to experience…

Mom and I took a break from our mad-dash, summer clear-out before the fam visits to stop by a local market one town over (so cute!) and to pick up some Chinese takeout (less cute). I can’t wait to whip something up with those fresh tomatoes. I meaaaannn: major heart eye emojis. Speaking of my mom, she’s always telling me to post my small-batch recipes on here.
