Twas the night before the holiday party, when outfits sprawled through her house.
Not a garment was working, not even her favorite blouse.
Her stockings were still tight from the Thanksgiving feast that year,
so she turned to the Internet to see what might appear. . .
When the holiday slump is real, you hardly ever have time to think about putting together festive looks for all those parties you forgot you RSVP’d to a month ago (a.k.a. ZERO if you’re like me). Coming from a girl who has just experienced her first collegiate finals week, I know very well just how quickly this time of year can fly. It is easy to forget little things that make us happy.
I often turn to fashion – and this blog, really – when I’m feeling down. This sounds strange, but I would argue that the clothes you wear play such a large role in how you feel. Maybe that is one of the many reasons I love this time of year. It becomes socially acceptable to wear sparkles for pizza dates and red lipstick for an 8 AM class.
Anything goes this time of year, so have a little fun getting dressed in the morning.
Festive coats
The great thing about a drop in temperature this time of year is that it really doesn’t matter what you are wearing underneath your giant snuggly coat. A stylish jacket is basically the greatest optical allusion of all time.
Pants with personality
Yes, skinny jeans and black trousers have a time and place, but there are so many more styles out there that are simply more fun. Take an unconditional approach to leg wear this season, and you’ll never look back.
Swoon-worthy sweaters
This time of year brings us the best sweaters. With so many colors, textures and shapes on the market right now, it is hard not to find something to love. On my radar this season? Statement sleeves and long cardigans.
Festive Frocks
While I may not be a dress person, the festive looks that are in shops right now make me wish I were. If you are nervous about having a full-on sequin moment, try paring a dazzling skirt or dress with an understated sweater on top. Playing with different textures adds depth to the look, and lessens the disco ball effect. (;
I hope these styles inspired you to think a little outside of the box this holiday. But no matter what you end up wearing, I hope you’ll embrace all the fun and merriment that this season of life brings!
Cheers!
