Dress for yourself: a call to action.
It’s a fairly simple idea, though I’m afraid it has become more and more difficult for some to embrace it. It doesn’t restrict itself to clothing. Rather, a state of mind is what it is. My grammatically correct mother is likely cringing right now for my having used the indefinite “it” without definition, so let’s just label it:
being yourself, unapologetically.
People talk about upholding image a lot. In a way, we are all the editors of our lives, manipulating how the world perceives our day-to-day. We edit our pictures, our language, our friends list and even what we wear to fit the image we want the world to see. But what if we stopped all of that?
Don’t get me wrong, I love a nice VSCO filter, but my life will never be picture-perfect. I’ll never live a day as bright as my Instagram theme. I’ll never have as many friends as my Facebook would lead you to believe. I’ll never ever be as stylish as my Pinterest boards. And that’s okay. I am entirely convinced of this.
“It” (see above) is about being genuine. It’s about waking up each morning with only the desire to live your best life, be your best self, and heck! even wear your best outfit.
Be who you want. Love who you are. Dress for yourself.
About the Outfit
Embracing my own advice, I dressed for myself and broke all fashion rules, combining navy, grey and black all together in one crazy and fun look. You can find the jumpsuit by Mother of Pearl on Rent the Runway, but I’ll link some similar styles in the box below.
Thanks for stopping by. Wishing you the best week.
