Our carefree and easy-going compadre. The one we run to at the end of every horrible, magical, scary, exciting, or unnerving day. The unsung hero of our existence: sweatpants.
I understood their magic at the ripe age of 11. As a girl experiencing menstrual cramps for the first time in her life, the discovery that there could be a different way rocked my world. The fuzzy lining and super stretchy elastic on my bright purple sweatpants from the clearance rack of Walmart gave me more joy than the new Justin Bieber album at the time. One Less Lonely Girl? More like One Less Operationally Restricted Girl.
Sweatpants are sparkles incarnated. Does that make sense? Probably not. I’m really just saying that they’re super extra fantastic. I’m not sure who decided that loungewear needed a place in our modern lives, but to them I say, “You inspire me.”
I’ve upgraded my sweatsuit game in recent years (read: months). I’ve been living in this tie dye set from Target for two weeks now. It’s actually the comfiest thing ever. There’s an added bonus in that the top and bottom match, as well. It almost looks like you’ve put effort into an actual outfit. Put this sweatsuit on and you’ve already won your day of social distancing. And, obviously, it’s great for all sorts of at-home activities… like learning (not sure if I can truly call it that) to longboard.
