Well, it’s another Saturday, but that doesn’t mean we have to dress ourselves in sweats and a messy bun. One of my favorite things about overalls is the freedom they give me to move and groove all day long. . .and today that apparently meant skipping through a field of buttercups.
What I’m Wearing:
I decided to contrast the rugged undone look of my overalls with a modern, skyscraper-printed blouse, which I am particularly fond of because of my love for the big city. Having grown up my entire life in the South, I know I’ve always taken the rolling hills and changing seasons for granted. I’m not saying that I would trade this time in Tennessee for anything, but in the past few years I have developed an admiration for city life. I guess I don’t have much experience living in crammed spaces with people shoulder-to-shoulder every time I leave the house. That could be why I have such a positive view of city life, but I would like to think it’s because of the endless opportunities and countless masses of people creating and collaborating in their everyday lives. Ever since my trip to New York with my family two years ago, I’ve been hooked on the idea that I will be attending college in that city, much to my mother’s dismay. As my time in high school shortens, I constantly find myself asking, “what’s next?” The truth is I don’t know, and I think that’s okay. Whether it means I end up in the city of my dreams pursing what I love, or being too homesick and hopping on the next flight home to attend a local college near my family, I’m excited for what my future holds.
That might have been a little too deep for a post about overalls and a printed shirt, but hey, I was feeling word-y.
Dream big.
